Now that we’re in the third month of the worst pandemic that this world has seen in over 100 years, I’m finding it harder and harder to be positive and encouraged through these times.
There doesn’t seem to be much good news coming out. Yes, I’ve heard that scientists around the world are making progress on a vaccine and it looks like a drug called remdesivir is helping people who are sick with COVID-19.
But then I saw an article about some experts believing that we may never get a vaccine, this started to make me feel faithless.
Then it hit me, why am I being discouraged when I believe in a God that can do anything. A God that created the heavens and the Earth. He created every hair and feature in all of us.
During these recent thoughts of faithlessness, the scripture that came to mind was Matthew 19:26:
26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26
This scripture comes from a parable titled, “The Rich and the Kingdom of God.” It’s a story about a rich man who doesn’t have the faith to give up his wealth for a relationship with God and is told that anything is possible with God. I know the story isn’t what we’re going through but the same message can be relied on today and that is that God can do anything.
So, I had to ask myself, do I really believe that? The answer is yes because in a time like this I don’t have any control and all I can do is submit to God and trust him.
This scripture has always stuck with me since I became a Christian 18 years ago. It’s so powerful because it’s true. Nothing is impossible with God. This might make you wonder why God won’t just get rid of this virus. I kind of touched on that in my previous post about worshipping God during this time. But the short answer is that virus’ and issues in our world have a lot to do with people and the choices they make. Also if God got rid of anything that made life difficult it wouldn’t help us grow as a people.
When we feel down and faithless as a Christian the best thing we can is goto to God and ask him for help. We can’t forget that he’s our father and we’re his children, he wants to hear from us when we’re going through tough situations.
We also can’t forget that God wants our lives to prosper, so we have to trust that at the end of the day he will take care of us.
Aside from prayer, reading my bible and talking to fellow Christians, one thing that really lifts my spirit is music, which is why I’m sharing the video posted above. But the most important thing is talking to God and remembering that nothing is impossible and we will get through this.
