Mark 12:29-31
The Purpose of Providence is to strengthen all who come to our spiritual family to love the Lord our God with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind and all our strength, and to help one another to love our neighbor as our self.
Another way to say our Mission could be that we strive to inspire all who come to our spiritual family to love the Lord our God with their A.L.L. (Attitude, Love & Life) and to fearlessly impact this world.
Worship
John 4:23-24
Psalm 95:6
We believe in Worship as an expression of our love for God. Worshiping God inspires us to focus on Him, and to remain focused on Him.
Worshiping God is both a personal and public experience that starts with our individual times with God. During these solitary times with God, we offer our hearts as living sacrifices; reading and applying the scriptures; humbling ourselves in prayer and also petitioning God to do amazing things for his glory. Every disciple is encouraged to have ‘heart changing worship times’ every day. The Spirit of Christ strengthens us in our inner being when we focus on him in personal worship.
Fellowship
Hebrews 10:24-25
Acts 2:42-47
Ephesians 4:16
Each member has the opportunity to use their talents and gifts to support needs and provide encouragement to the church. There are plenty of opportunities to strengthen the fellowship by engaging in various ministries: Community Groups, Worship, Children’s Ministry, and Benevolent Ministries, Board of Directors and many others ministries.
We enjoy being with our spiritual family and want to be there to both celebrate and strengthen each other when needed.
Discipling to Maturity
Colossians 1:28-29
We believe every disciple is to mature in their walk with the Lord. We believe that this process of development is enhanced by our devotion to the Word of God, to prayer, to sharing our lives with others and deepening relationships within the church.
Service
Jeremiah 22:16
Galatians 2:10
Serving the poor and community is always on the heart of the members of the New Church. We believe that this was a major aspect of Jesus’ ministry. We teach that every member must be a balanced in their ministry, which includes a presence in the community and serving the needy.
Evangelism
Matthew 28:18-20
Acts 4:19-20
We want to make Christ known in metropolitan areas of Washington D.C. and Baltimore as well as to spread the Gospel throughout our lovely state of Maryland. We are grateful for the partnerships we have that share this vision and conviction to share God’s love.
Vision Statement:
Providence Ministries will create opportunities for every member to grow in their God-given talents and to live out their gifts within the Church and communities they live and work in.
